Jacksonville Youth Hockey General Information Fall 2009
General Overview
Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex and North Florida Hockey Association work together to bring 5 levels of learning experiences and play to the youth hockey player in Jacksonville. These levels encompass all players from the first time beginner to the seasoned veteran.
For the very beginner there are two levels available, Intro to Hockey and Learn to Play Hockey programs. These programs run throughout the year in 8 week cycles. Registration is available year round and it is a great way for boys and girls of all ages to get started. The beginner league level is our Cross Ice Program. This program runs in sync with the Fall and Winter season. Players begin to get the basics of team competition and individual hockey skills, while playing in a non-competitive learning environment. Cross Ice Players will generally have Ice time on Saturday and Sundays.
Once a player is ready for competitive hockey, the House League Program has competitive divisions for players 7 to 18. These players practice and play under the supervision of USA Hockey certified Coaches.
In the Fall of 2009, Jacksonville will be home to 4 Jr. Barracuda Travel Teams & our Midget Storm Travel Team competing in the Central Florida Hockey League and in Tournaments in and outside of Florida.
The NFHA is a not-for-profit parent run organization dedicated to the growth of children and the enjoyment of youth Ice Hockey on the First Coast.
